Berwyn Shops 2027 Vendor Application is Now Open

A collection of colorful storefronts filled with fresh ideas, ambitious entrepreneurs, and businesses that are taking a chance on what’s next. On any given weekend at Berwyn Shops, you’ll find shoppers discovering handmade goods, entrepreneurs sharing the stories behind their brands, friends gathering for special events, and neighbors supporting small businesses they may not have known existed just a few weeks earlier.

What many visitors don’t see is that behind every shop is a business owner pursuing a dream that may have started at a kitchen table, in a spare bedroom, at a weekend market, or in the hours after finishing a full-time job.

For some, Berwyn Shops is their first opportunity to operate a storefront. For others, it’s a chance to move beyond online sales, pop-up markets, or home-business and begin exploring what it takes to build and operate a brick-and-mortar business.

The 2027 Berwyn Shops Vendor Application is officially open, and we’re looking for the next cohort of creative, passionate, and ambitious business owners who are ready to take the next step.

Where Businesses Get Their First Front Door

Berwyn Shops was built on a simple belief that when entrepreneurs have access to real-world opportunities to test and refine their business models, entire communities benefit.

Since 2022, the program continues to provide small business owners with an opportunity to operate within a dedicated retail environment while gaining valuable insight into customer preferences, merchandising, inventory management, pricing strategies, and day-to-day business operations. Instead of making a significant financial commitment to a traditional storefront, entrepreneurs can gain firsthand retail experience in a lower-risk setting while building their brand and customer base. They begin navigating the realities of business ownership, from marketing and operations to licensing, certifications, and future growth planning.

For many vendors, Berwyn Shops is a proving ground. A place to test an idea, build confidence, and determine what the next chapter of their business might look like.

Building Business

We know success in business often comes from more than simply opening the doors.

That’s why Berwyn Shops combines retail experience with access to educational workshops, business resources, networking opportunities, and ongoing support throughout the season. In addition to operating a subsidized seasonal storefront, vendors are required to participate in, and take advantage of, workshops and resources focused on topics like financial literacy, business planning, understanding capital options, and preparing for long-term growth. Resources are offered for free through the support of our BDC team and community partners such as the Women’s Business Development Center, the Breedlove Entrepreneurship Center (BEC), and local leaders who are invested in their success.

While every vendor’s journey is different, the goal has always been bigger than one successful season.

More Than a Retail Space

Over the years, Berwyn Shops has grown into something much bigger than a retail incubator – it’s become a gathering place.

Throughout each season, the space comes alive with experiences that help vendors connect with customers in meaningful ways. Recent seasons have welcomed the Berwyn Chamber’s Women in Business networking events, entrepreneur-focused community open houses, wellness activities including Zumba and Pilates classes, Hispanic Heritage Month collaborations, family-friendly programming, and vendor-led experiences ranging from lemonade-making workshops and tarot readings to open mic nights and creative demonstrations.

Looking ahead to 2027, Berwyn Shops plans to expand its programming with an extended wellness series including yoga, Pilates, and sound bath experiences; recurring open mic nights; live art and music activations; craft markets; and additional opportunities for makers, artists, and entrepreneurs to connect with the community.

These experiences reinforce an important lesson for entrepreneurs: successful businesses don’t just sell products. They sell joy and memories. They become part of the community.
