Becoming a Member

BDC members become part of a distinct network of individuals who share a belief in community improvement through active participation. They know that more can be accomplished together than individually.

BDC members have more opportunities to meet potential clients, expand contacts within the area, and benefit from ongoing marketing efforts and cooperative advertising programs, while becoming more involved in and informed about important issues that affect them, their businesses, and the community. The BDC offers its members the chance to network and to pool resources to strengthen the community’s development efforts.

Annual Membership Investment Levels
Our members, like our community, have diverse needs and objectives. You can join the BDC as an individual, a business partner, or as a non-profit organization. We offer six annual membership investment plans, each with unique benefits and inherent value. Choose the one that best fits your needs!

Individuals - $100
Residents of Berwyn, not representing a local business or professional firm, are encouraged to become involved in the Berwyn Development Corporation. By working with other community residents in cooperation with business and community leaders, individual members make an important difference in Berwyn's future growth and development.

Non-Profit Organizations - $100
Berwyn social service and civic organizations, community taxing bodies, and fraternal organizations benefit from the many networking and promotional opportunities they enjoy as members of the BDC. They know that much more can be accomplished by working together rather than alone.

Business Members - As Listed Below

Berwyn business owners, managers, and professionals take on an active role in the BDC. They know that improvements to the community benefit their businesses by attracting new residents and new customers. They know the BDC works with the City of Berwyn to attract additional business operations into the community and to promote development opportunities. By working together, we can create a stronger, more diverse mix of business and residential uses and increase the tax base -- benefiting all segments of the community.

Through their memberships, local organizations and businesses are listed in our annual membership directory, both alphabetically and by category, and are included in the BDC's searchable online directory; each is encouraged to provide information on upcoming events and news item's for the BDC's quarterly newsletter and online calendar of events; each receives monthly mailings, special discounts on cooperative advertising opportunities, and invitations to BDC events and special programs.

Annual membership dues are based on the number of employees and are maintained at a much lower level than comparable business associations throughout the Chicago area simply because the BDC's primary focus is overall community improvement.

What our Members Have To Say

"I've been a member of the BDC now for 2 years. I have had my insurance agency in Berwyn for 13 years. I have met more business owners through the BDC in the last 2 years than I did from the previous ten. The BDC has also been a great way to get to know more about Berwyn. I have taken advantage of the monthly mailings as an advertising opportunity and have been happy with the results. Getting involved has given me an opportunity to "give back" a little, and that itself, has been worth my time."
Jim Finnerty, State farm

"If you have a business or own commercial property in Berwyn, you owe it to your self to be a member of the BDC. How else can you affect the economic well-being of Berwyn?"
Ken Cechura, Berwyn Ace Hardware

"The BDC provides a great way to implement ideas ...proactively helping business move forward to make the community better for us all."
Kathleen FitzGerald, FitzGerald's

“If you pay sales or real estate taxes in Berwyn, you must join the BDC.  It was a simple decision for us – join the BDC and support the economic growth of Berwyn.”
Randy Jacklin, Jacks, Inc.

“Most cities have a “Chamber’; we are fortunate to have much more than that in Berwyn – we have the BDC. We don’t just network our business people; we DEVELOP within the entire city of Berwyn, working with local government, the schools, other local interests, and its citizens.”
Bob Anderson Jr., Anderson Bros. Ford
